Facebook search [09 Sep 2011|03:23pm]

Facebook Search
Social Searcher site allows to search on Facebook without logging in. One may use any keywords to narrow down the search results around Facebook. It's really handy while searching for old friends and you don't remember a lot about them. Also Facebook still has no search engine at all and in build search is glitching very often.
According to the site information, Social Searcher is built upon combination of Google custom search and Facebook’s publicly available API.
Here are some Facebook Search tips for this service:

1. Phrase search (””)
By putting double quotes around a set of words, you are telling Facebook Search to consider the exact words in that exact order without any change. For example, search
“Obama Plans to Keep Estate Tax”
will find only facebook pages where this article from WSJ is shared.

2. Terms you want to exclude (-)
Attaching a minus sign immediately before a word indicates that you do not want pages that contain this word to appear in your results. The minus sign should appear immediately before the word and should be preceded with a space. For example, query
Cars in USA -Chevrolet
will exclude all references to Chevrolet from the search result on Facebook.

3. The OR operator
Facebook Search’s default behavior is to consider all the words in a search. If you want to specifically allow either one of several words, you can use the OR operator (note that you have to type ‘OR’ in ALL CAPS). For example, query
Real estate in USA 2009 OR 2010
will give you results about either one of these years.

Make money as well as friends on this new social networking site! [07 Mar 2008|08:13pm]

MySpace, Facebook, and all the other social networking websites make millions of dollars in advertising revenue every month... Yuwie is the first social networking site that distributes some of that money to its users! Basically, you get paid for every time someone views any part of your page, as well as for page views that your referrals accumulate...

No start-up fees, no reading emails or clicking ads or any of that!

For a video that explains it better than I possibly could, clickity-click:

I am fabulous, sugar-coated and all things sweet... and my name is Mary. I'm 15. Or as other languages like to say it, I have 15 years (e.g. j'ai 15 ans; tengo 15 anos and... my point exactly). I'm going to write something that is actually worth reading. I mean, who cares how tall you are, or how much you weigh? Having heated discussions about life, philosophy and books are my calling. I am a grammar snob, and am definitely not afraid to admit this. I hate it when people type lyk DiSh wiD sTiCkY cApS and find it particularly stupid of someone if you cannot differentiate between "they're" and "their". I make a mental grammar correction when I spot such tedious mistakes. Just because.

So. Clearly I am as bored as hell.
And would like to get to know people; I am NOT a number on your friend count.

Add me on my facebook?
